Passage: Luke 4:1-13
The passage talks about the temptation that Jesus underwent before His minstry.
Well, though I have read this passage many times, I got a new revelation while reading it this time. What I found so special in this incident, is the three different situations in which Jesus was while He was being tempted.
In Times of Need
Verse 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
This is a stage, where Jesus needed food to quench his hunger. As a Christian, we go through different kind of needs in our life. This can range from spiritual, financial, emotional, etc.... (Only you and God knows what are your needs....) This is a stage very vulnerable for temptation from the devil. Every child of God must be very careful, as the devil may trap us by showing us the solution of our need.
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
May God help us to rely on Him for every need so that we wont yield to the temptation brought by the devil in times of our need.
In Times of Abundance
Verse 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
This is an another stage, where Jesus is being shown every kingdoms of the world, that shows the high positions in the society, highly appreciated levels in the society, life of abundance, with all honor and glory from people and where one has everything in life.
We must realise today that this stage of a man's life is also vulnerable to temptation from the devil. Devil may try to attack our devotion and commitment to the Lord when we have everything, saying, you dont need God.
Deuteronomy 8:10When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
Now this is another stage, "set him on a pinnacle of a temple" (temple shows place of worship) a state where we are spiritual very strong, and we are being appreciated by everyone that you are a powerful man of God. God is powerfully using us and we are so puffed up that we feel, that we are on the pinnacle of our church, and many people are being blessed by us...... (and many more to say, you know it better...no need to write...)
Again, this is a stage, vulnerable to temptations from the devil. Lets be very careful as we walk our Christian life, of all the darts of temptations hurled by the devil and may God help us to lead a victorious Christian life !!
God bless you all !!

Let us not forget God when we are abundantly blessed by Him.
